Overview
Designed a unified and elegant packaging system for a body massage bar soap that balances protection, usability, and brand expression. The solution educates customers on safe lymphatic massage techniques while maintaining cost efficiency through a cohesive, scalable packaging structure.
Design Challenge
Client request: Create a generic packaging system for multiple soap variations (only stickers change) and include a simple lymphatic massage diagram or guide.
Challenge: Soap is delicate (nodes can break, rope can damage surface) and needed to protect the product while keeping packaging elegant.
Design Approach
Developed a separate insert to prevent scratches and damage.
Created a flexible box design adaptable to multiple scents via stickers.
Integrated an instructional diagram that is clear and visually balanced.
Final Design
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of balancing structural functionality with clear user guidance. I learned to consider how customers interact with the packaging, whether instructions are placed inside or outside the box, and how to make them easy to understand. Integrating the massage guide infographic enhanced usability and education, while the flexible sticker-based system demonstrated cost-efficient scalability.
For future iterations, I would explore interactive or multimedia elements, such as a QR code linking to a quick video guide or step-by-step illustrations, to further improve user experience and engagement. Overall, the project highlighted the value of combining protection, usability, and brand storytelling in packaging design.
